I’m embarrassed, but I need your help #please… I have a possible tumor and my insurance isn’t helping

I don’t do this often and the few times I have asked for help, I’ve never gotten very far. But I need to try because I don’t know what else to do.

I suppose this is a long rant about what’s going on with me and my life these days. I try to keep it quiet and distract myself with pretty things, but sometimes I need to let it out. And maybe you can find it in your heart to get through this and help me in some way. Anyway.

There are too many things going on. Too many things.  No one I know has money they can lend or just gift me. I have no money. My family of 3 lives off of $17k a year. I honestly don’t know how we make it.

Health insurance is denying my claims. I can’t pay my medical bills. I need a ct scan bc I have a tumour that may need chemotherapy (according to a resident at John Hopkins) and I can’t afford any of it. It may not need chemo or radiation. It could be nothing. It could be outright removed (even though we’ve removed it twice already) but I’ll never know until it’s too late, if I can’t get this ct scan.

I practically live on my asthma inhaler and I often wonder if I can even afford to “waste” another huff of it. My asthma isn’t bad enough to kill me or anything like that, just bad enough to torture me every day and send me to urgent care with the occasional asthma attack that requires being hooked up to a breathing machine.

I got put on prednisone. The side effects are weight gain, fatigue, foggy thoughts, pain, nausea and just about everything I don’t need right now, or ever.

My phone is dying a little more every day. I can’t make or receive phone calls or texts and data anything doesn’t work. I can only use it when I’m home and connected to wifi. It turns off randomly. Freezes. Even when at home, it can take forever for it to do anything. Battery life is an hour at rest if I’m lucky.

My mom’s car is busted. That was our only source of transportation and now that’s gone. We can’t afford to fix it. The closest bus stop is 5 miles away on the highway with no sidewalks. I can’t walk there bc I have nerve damage so severe that I’m on meds galore and still can’t walk longer than 15 minutes. And sometimes the pain is so bad that I can’t walk at all.

I have nothing in my name other than debt. What are these bill collectors going to take away from me? I don’t have wages to garnish. What do they want? I have nothing to give them. If I could dissect this tumour myself, I would maybe sell it to science or some weirdo on Craigslist. That could make some money, maybe.

Nothing is right or even close to it. Even if after 4 years of unemployment someone does want to hire me or even interview me, how would I get there? How do they call me? Even that doesn’t work out right.

I’m stuck and I need help getting unstuck. I’m so embarrassed to even be asking, but I really don’t know what else to do.

If you can find it in your heart to maybe throw a few bucks my way, I’d be so insanely and forever grateful. Maybe you can pass this along to a friend?

Thank you.

Peace and Pistachios,

Heba

CAIR Questions How Islamophobe Ben Carson Will Treat Muslims Served and Employed by HUD

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CAIR Questions How Islamophobe Ben Carson Will Treat Muslims Served and Employed by HUD

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 12/5/16) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today said President-elect Donald Trump’s choice of Islamophobe Ben Carson to be secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) could negatively impact Muslims served and employed by that federal agency.

Carson is notorious for his assertion that a Muslim should not be elected president of the United States. CAIR called on Carson to drop out of the presidential race when he made that bigoted statement.

“Based on his past Islamophobic statements and policy positions, all Americans should be very concerned on how Dr. Carson would treat Muslim HUD employees or Muslims seeking agency services,” said CAIR Government Affairs Director Robert McCaw.

“Dr. Carson’s views on Islam, American Muslims and the world are dangerously ill-informed and could negatively impact any government agency he heads,” said CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad.

CAIR has expressed concern about a “troubling Islamophobic trend” in President-elect Donald Trump’s recent appointments and nominations.

Backgrounder on Ben Carson’s Islamophobia:

Earlier this year, in an interview with another Trump appointee, then Breitbart host Stephen Bannon, Carson said American Muslims could only embrace both Islamic and democratic values “if they’re schizophrenic.” He said: “I don’t see how they can do it otherwise, because you have two different philosophies.”

During a speech at Iowa University, Carson said Islam is not a religion, but is instead “a life organization system” that has an “apocalyptic vision.”

In September of 2015, CAIR announced the distribution of free Qurans, Islam’s holy text, in response to then Republican presidential candidate Carson’s false claim that Islam is “inconsistent” with the Constitution and his bigoted belief that a Muslim should not be elected president. Carson used the Anti-Semitic “dual loyalty” accusation to support his unconstitutional viewpoint.

Also last year, CAIR called on the Republican National Committee (RNC) to repudiate Carson’s stated willingness to consider religion as probable cause for searches and called on Carson himself to drop a top foreign policy adviser who claims Muslims have “infiltrated” the United States.

Carson has compared Syrian refugees to “rabid dogs.” He said: “If there is a rabid dog running around your neighborhood, you’re probably not going to assume something good about that dog. And you’re probably going to put your children out of the way.”

CAIR Calls Priebus Remark About ‘Problematic’ Aspects of Islam, Refusal to Rule Out Muslim Registry More Examples of Trump Transition Team’s Islamophobia

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CAIR Calls Priebus Remark About ‘Problematic’ Aspects of Islam, Refusal to Rule Out Muslim Registry More Examples of Trump Transition Team’s Islamophobia

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 11/20/16) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called remarks by incoming White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus about “problematic” aspects of Islam and his refusal to rule out a “registry” for Muslims as more examples of the Islamophobia exhibited by President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team.

When asked on ABC about Trump’s appointment of retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn and the general’s claim that “Islam is not a real religion, but a political ideology masked behind a religion,” Priebus said Flynn’s views are in line with those of the president-elect and added: “I mean, look, phrasing can always be done differently but clearly there are some aspects of that faith that are problematic.”

CAIR had called on President-elect Trump not to appoint retired Flynn as his national security adviser because of his history of anti-Muslim comments and associations. Flynn was later appointed to that position, despite calling Islam a “cancer,” claiming fear of Muslims is “rational” and being a current member of the board of advisers for the nation’s most virulent anti-Muslim hate group, ACT for America.

On NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Priebus refused to rule out a “registry for Muslims.” He said: “Look I’m not going to rule out anything.”

“Our nation is not served by the denigration of Islam or by the introduction of ineffective and discriminatory policies targeting Muslims,” said CAIR Government Affairs Director Robert McCaw.

On Friday, CAIR expressed concern about a “troubling Islamophobic trend” in President-elect Donald Trump’s recent appointments and nominations including Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions for the post of attorney general and Kansas Rep. Mike Pompeo to head the CIA.

CAIR Asks Trump Not to Appoint General Who Called Islam ‘a Cancer’ as National Security Adviser

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CAIR Asks Trump Not to Appoint General Who Called Islam ‘a Cancer’ as National Security Adviser

Retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn is on board of advisers for nation’s most virulent anti-Muslim hate group

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 11/17/16) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called on President-elect Donald Trump not to appoint retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn as his national security adviser because of his history of anti-Muslim comments and associations. Media reports indicated Trump has already made that decision.

SEE: Flynn Said to Be Lead Contender for Trump’s Security Adviser

Earlier this year at a Texas event hosted by the anti-Islam hate group ACT for America, Flynn compared Islam to “a cancer” and said that faith of 1.6 billion people worldwide “definitely hides behind being a religion.”

SEE: Trump’s Favorite General Doesn’t View Islam as a Religion (Dallas Morning News)

“A person who believes the faith of one fourth of the world’s population is a ‘cancer’ should not be advising the president on anything, let alone on our nation’s security,” said CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad. “We urge President-elect Trump not to appoint General Flynn to any administration post, and if he already has made that decision, to find another candidate who does not hold such bigoted views.”

Awad noted that Flynn is on the board of advisers for ACT for America, a virulently anti-Muslim hate group headed by Hanah Kahwagi Tudor, who goes by the pseudonym “Brigitte Gabriel.” [NOTE: ACT for America has been designated as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).]

SEE: Meet the Extremists Attending the ACT for America Conference

“Gabriel” has stated that an American Muslim “cannot be a loyal citizen” and that Islam is the “real enemy.” She once told the Australian Jewish News: “Every practicing Muslim is a radical Muslim.” When asked whether Americans should “resist Muslims who want to seek political office in this nation,” Tudor said, “Absolutely.”

CAIR Urges Trump to Drop Anti-Islam Conspiracy Theorist Frank Gaffney from Transition Team

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CAIR Urges Trump to Drop Anti-Islam Conspiracy Theorist Frank Gaffney from Transition Team

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 11/16/16) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called on President-Elect Donald Trump to drop anti-Islam conspiracy theorist Frank Gaffney as an adviser on national security for his transition team. (#DropGaffney)

SEE: Meet Frank Gaffney, the Anti-Muslim Gadfly Reportedly Advising Trump’s Transition Team (Washington Post)

Donald Trump Considers Another Anti-Muslim Conspiracy Theorist for His Team

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has identified Gaffney as an anti-Muslim extremist and his Center for Security Policy (CSP) as a hate group. According to the SPLC, CSP is “a conspiracy-oriented mouthpiece for the growing anti-Muslim movement in the United States.”

Of Gaffney himself, the SPLC says he is “gripped by paranoid fantasies about Muslims destroying the West from within, suspicious that Barack Obama was actually born in Kenya, and a proponent of a new version of the infamous House Un-American Activities Committee to root out suspected Muslim subversives.”

“Discredited conspiracy theorists like Frank Gaffney should not come within 100 miles of any administration that seeks to maintain credibility on the world stage or to uphold longstanding American values of religious diversity and inclusion,” said CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad. “With these kinds of associations, President-elect Trump is dividing America at a time when we are most in need of unity.”

CAIR: Go Home Now,’ Trump Supporter Tells Muslim Family in Hate-Filled Note Taped to Door of Iowan Home

Reported Trump Immigration Advisor and Potential Attorney General Is Drafting Plan for Muslim Registry

Backgrounder on Frank Gaffney:

Gaffney is a notorious anti-Muslim conspiracy theorist who has claimed that “most of the Muslim-American groups of any prominence in America are now known to be, as a matter of fact, hostile to the United States and its Constitution.”

He is a key promoter of the bizarre conspiracy theory that Muslims in public service are infiltrating the government on behalf of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Gaffney has questioned “whether Mr. Obama is a natural born citizen of the United States,” claimed the Missile Defense Agency logo is part of a “worrying pattern of official U.S. submission to Islam,” claimed an aide to Hillary Clinton was a secret Muslim Brotherhood operative, was a key witness for the plaintiffs in a controversial lawsuit seeking to block construction of a Tennessee mosque, promoted the debunked claim that Dearborn, Mich., is a “ghetto enclave in which it’s Muslim-only,” and hosted “white supremacist” Jared Taylor on his “Secure Freedom” radio program.

He has in the past:

* Suggested that Saddam Hussein was behind the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.

* Claimed Gen. David Petraeus, commander of U.S. troops in Afghanistan, was submitting to Islamic law when he condemned the burning of a Quran by a Florida pastor.

* Objected to Reps. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) and Andre Carson (D-Ind.) serving on the House Intelligence Committee because they are Muslim.

* Accused Pope Francis of having “rabidly anti-American” views after the pope said it is “not Christian” to urge the deportation of undocumented immigrants and to build a wall between the U.S. and Mexico.

Gaffney was banned from the annual Conservative Political Action Conference in 2011 after accusing fellow Republicans of having ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.

Anders Breivik, the Norwegian mass murderer, cited Gaffney in his anti-Muslim manifesto.

Gaffney’s staff attorney, David Yerushalmi, has advocated outlawing the practice of Islam in America and is the key promoter of anti-Islam bills in state legislatures nationwide.

When leading GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump proposed a ban on all Muslims entering the United States, he quoted from a sham survey commissioned by Gaffney’s organization.

Earlier this week, CAIR decried the appointment of anti-Muslim conspiracy theorist and White nationalist “alt-right” extremist Stephen Bannon as chief strategist and senior counselor to President-elect Donald Trump.

Bannon hosted Gaffney on his Sirius XM radio show “Breitbart News Daily” 29 times.

CAIR Says FBI Report of Sharp Jump in Anti-Muslim Hate Crimes Should Push Nation’s Leaders to Reject Islamophobia

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 11/14/16) – The Council on American-Islamic-Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today said that newly-released FBI hate crime statistics showing a 67 percent jump in anti-Muslim incidents in 2015 should push the nation’s leaders to repudiate growing Islamophobia.

“We witnessed a sharp jump in anti-Muslim incidents nationwide last year, with that spike in Islamophobia continuing through 2016 and accelerating after the November 8 election,” said CAIR Government Affairs Director Robert McCaw. “This unprecedented increase in bigotry of all kinds must be repudiated in the strongest terms possible by all our nation’s leaders, beginning with President-elect Donald Trump.”

McCaw noted that the FBI statistics confirm CAIR’s own report of an unprecedented number of anti-mosque incidents in 2015.

Remembering Rachel Corrie on the anniversary of her death

contact@ifamericansknew.org

Dear Friend,

On this day 13 years ago, American peace activist Rachel Corrie was crushed to death by Israeli soldiers driving a military bulldozer. She was trying to prevent the demolition of a Palestinian family’s home. According to numerous witnesses and photographic documentation, she was killed intentionally.

Representative Brian Baird from Washington State introduced a resolution in Congress calling on the federal government to “undertake a full, fair, and expeditious investigation” into Rachel’s death. The bill was co-sponsored by 77 representatives, but Congress took no action.

The Corrie family then filed a lawsuit against Caterpillar Inc in 2005, alleging that Caterpillar supplied Israelis with bulldozers even though they knew they were being used to commit war crimes. The lawsuit was dismissed.

The Corrie family’s appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit was also dismissed. The court acknowledged that the U.S. government paid for the bulldozer that killed Rachel, but said that they didn’t have the jurisdiction to rule on the “political question” of U.S. military aid to Israel.

In 2010, the Corrie family filed a lawsuit in Israel against the Israeli Defense Forces. Israeli officials prevented the physician who had examined Rachel’s wounds from testifying in the case. The court ruled that Rachel was responsible for her own death. In 2014, the Corrie family’s appeal was rejected by the Supreme Court of Israel, and the IDF was absolved of any wrongdoing.

Keep Rachel’s message alive by sharing her story with your community. We have cards, a booklet of Rachel’s letters, and posters available for download and order.

#SupportPalestineInDC2016

U.S. taxpayers send Israel over $3 billion a year in military aid with virtually no strings attached, and now the prime minister of Israel wants $5 billion a year.

The majority of Americans oppose taking sides in the Israel-Palestine conflict, but virtually all Democratic and Republican members of Congress continue to supply Israel with more and more weapons each year (Palestinians do not receive military aid).

American taxpayer dollars have enabled Israel to continue its decades-long illegal occupation of Palestinian land and deny Palestinians basic legal and human rights. With our money, Israeli forces have killed over 9,200 Palestinians as well as numerous international journalists and peace activists since 2000.

We are driving the violence in this region, and we must stop it.

This weekend, AIPAC kicks off its annual policy conference in Washington, D.C., with Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, and Donald Trump scheduled to give speeches. We hope you will join us this Sunday at noon at the White House to protest AIPAC’s influence on American politics and support Palestinian human rights. Your voice is urgently needed!

As always, thank for your commitment to peace, justice, and equality for all people.
